National Capital Amateur Council

We are looking for Operators for the 33rd Marine Corps Marathon!

We are now accepting registration from Amateur Radio Operators for the 33rd (2008) Marine Corps Marathon . This will be the 31st year that Amateur Radio has provided communications support for the Marathon.  Amateur radio also provides real time information from the race course back to the race officials.  We are their eyes and ears on the course.  We will be needing about 125 operators again this year. Some of the positions that we will need to fill include: Mile Markers, Aid stations, 9.6k Packet Ops, APRS Ops, 1.2 GHz Digital Data D-Star Ops, Water Points, Net Controls, Official shadows, plus some that I have probably forgotten.

Click on the Sign Up Here link below to register for this event. This is the only way to volunteer as it is this list that is passed to the Marine Corps. Until then, for your information, here are key dates you can enter on your schedule now:

Saturday 18 October 2008 all hands participant training. (Meet the key medical officers.)

Sunday 26 October 2008 Race Day. (check in starts at 0330)

Welcome to the NCACDC Web Page.  NCACDC is an organization of Amateur Radio emergency communication organizations, including ARES, RACES and REACT in the metropolitan Washington DC area.

NCACDC's sole purpose is to improve mutual aid for ARES/RACES and Public Service in the National Capital Area.  The goal is to make sure that we are all training so that we could work together, that we have a common alerting mechanism, and that all ECs have open lines of communication before, during, and after any event.
